Dreams And You
According to a very famous quote by William. A. Wand,
“If you can imagine it, you can achieve it.
If you can dream it, you can do it.”
Every great journey begins with one small step. Similarly, every great success begins with a dream.
Dreams hitch our wagon to stars and make us reach the success and prosperity. A person who has no
dream is incapable of living a wholesome rewarding life. However, it is important to note that in order to
transform our dreams into reality, you must wake up and chase your dreams. You must create the
circumstances for yourself because success will never be served to you on a platter. You need to work
hard daily and progressively in the direction of achieving your dreams.
“If you can’t stop thinking about it, don’t stop working for it.”
We believe that we can materialize our dreams but for this purpose just the belief is not enough. Fortitude
and determination are very important in this journey. One must be determined enough to transform one’s
dreams to concrete reality. This fortitude and determination are really very important because in the
journey to materialize your dreams you would face many obstacles i.e. mocking behavior of the society.
As if you have told someone about your dreams and your progress on them, what can be the first possible
response from them? I have heard many people saying that, “Are you mad? It is impossible.” or saying
that, “I don’t believe you can do it.”
It is breathtaking to bear such criticizing behavior of friends and family, your loved ones. It is not
impossible though. You can overcome all these difficulties if you are determined enough to make it
happen. Walt Disney says,
“All your dreams can come true, if you have courage to pursue them.”
Walt Disney was a school dropout who suffered several business disasters and bankruptcy. He overcame
his personal and financial changes by using his imagination to create an entertainment empire that has
touched hearts, minds and souls of all of us. He summarized his creativity in word IMAGINEERING.
This word imagineering combines two words IMAGINATION and ENGINEERING. Imagineering
enabled him to transform his dreams, fantasies and wishes of his imaginations to concrete reality.
Disney’s thinking strategy involved exploring something using different perceptual positions.
“If you can dream it, you can do it.” (Walt Disney)
Anybody can dream, anybody can plan. As it says:
When you wish upon a star,
Makes no difference who you are.
Success will never be ending a failure will never be final for those who have the capacity to dream. Single
quality that you will find in the mental cavity of all the dreamers and doers is creative curiosity. It is the
dynamic portion of mind that provokes questions that release creativity. For millennia people sat under
the trees only to have apples fall and hit them on their heads. For millennia human response was
predictable: OUCH or Gosh! What an apple! Then one day according to the legend, a man was hit on
the head by an apple and he responded with creative curiosity. He asked,
Why did the apple fall down instead of rising up and floating away like a cloud, a feather or a leaf?
Why do leaves fly away while apples fall down?
It was the curiosity of Newton, but he treated it as a dream to discover the answers to his questions and he
discovered the law of gravity. You can also have another example of courage to make dreams come true,
he was Kekule. He was a great chemist. Not his dreams made him great but the courage and
determination to make his dream come true, made him great. When he was very much involved in finding
the actual structure of benzene, he forgot every other thing and focused heartedly on his aim. He saw
some snakes in his dream. They arranged themselves in a hexagonal arrangement. He worked on it, and
finally found the benzene structure as a hexagonal ring. When you work for aim with too much
consideration, God also helps you in His way.
“A dream you dream alone is a dream.
A dream you dream together is a reality.”
You must work hard towards making your dream come true. You must put light on everyday progress
towards your target. At the end of each day, it is important to introspect and ask yourself,
“How much further have I proceeded towards achieving my dreams?”
“What other efforts need to be made?”
“How can I enhance my quality of life?”
Making an attempt to discover answers to all such questions with inculcate within us a habit of continual
dedication. You’ll become better human being as you’ll begin to have a sense of purpose and duty.
Dreams are the steppingstones upon which the foundation of your life is laid. More essential than
conceiving a dream is to pursue it whole-heartedly.
“A person without a dream is like a bird with broken wings.”
Your dreams make you feel that you can shape the world with your mind. You can create a whole new
life and your eyes will shine with the thoughts of endless possibilities. You should pursue your dream
with all efforts even in the face of dire adversity. Mere dreaming has not led anyone anywhere, but it can
if worked over it. Implementation of a proper strategy will ensure fulfilment of dreams and a fullervibrant life.
